Parent Search Voice: “My child needs help now, but tutor prices are all over the place. What is a sensible hourly cost, and what am I actually paying for?”

What tutors charge in the US
There is no official national tutoring tariff. Tutors.com reports $25–$80 per hour for private tutoring and $25–$50 for online lessons. TutorCruncher also gives a broad $25–$80 range. These are market guides, not a promise that every tutor charges inside them.
| Support | Published guide | Parent check |
|---|---|---|
| General private tutoring | $25–$80/hour | Location and experience matter. |
| Online tutoring | $25–$50/hour | Check if it is one-to-one. |
| Test preparation | $45–$100/hour | Confirm the exam and tutor fit. |
Why the quote changes
Elementary math support, high-school chemistry and AP-level work are not the same job. The tutor may need different subject depth, preparation time and resources. Location also affects in-person prices, while online tutoring gives families a wider choice.
Before comparing numbers, ask whether the quote covers 60 minutes, one-to-one teaching, lesson planning and feedback. Then compare the total commitment, not just the smallest number in the advert.
AatiCademy pricing for US families
AatiCademy online tutoring starts from approximately USD $10 per 60-minute session. We normally arrange tutoring in packages. The exact total depends on the student’s grade, curriculum, subject and requirements, so $10 is a conditioned starting price rather than a universal rate.
Share the school grade and course. If the student follows GCSE, IGCSE, IB, CBSE or A-Level from an international school, include that. For a US course, describe the grade, subject and current unit so availability can be checked accurately.
How to decide if the tutor is worth the price
- Ask the tutor to explain how they would identify the child’s gaps.
- Check experience with the exact subject and level.
- Agree on a realistic goal: concept repair, homework independence or exam practice.
- Ask what progress will look like after several sessions.
- Do not accept a guaranteed grade or a pressure-based promise.
A female tutor for your daughter
AatiCademy is built primarily around female students learning with female tutors. The aim is a comfortable one-to-one setting where a student can ask questions honestly and work at the right pace. Tutor availability still depends on the subject, curriculum and timetable.
